Travel guides and truffle guides are similar in a number of ways. However, if you look closely, you will be able to tell the difference. The purpose of this post is to help dispel confusion over this important distinction.

First, the similarities

To the untrained eye, it can be difficult to distinguish between a travel guide and a truffle guide. Even seasoned veterans can make this mistake at first glance. Both are full of useful information aimed to help you make an informed decision about when, where, and how best to enjoy your time. And don’t we all wish we had more of that!

Both types of guide can be used in the following ways:

  • to gather information about areas with which you are not fully familiar
  • to become inspired to try new things
  • to choose the best product for you and your love ones’ tastes
  • to save some money

Dispelling confusion

The main difference between travel guides and truffle guides is this: the former focuses on flights between different regions, countries, cities and particular airports, while the latter focuses on underground mushrooms. Both guides have their merit. Any decent truffle guide will describe the different varieties of trees under which you are most likely to discover the prized fungi. A nice travel guide will help you determine the various airlines on which you can get from point A to point B. So while the core mission of these two guides are quite similar, you wouldn’t want to be caught out with the wrong type of guide when it matters most! Say, for example, you’re trying to meet some folks in Germany at some point in the next few weeks; a truffle guide would not help you find recent flight fares from London to Berlin.

Conclusions

Traveling, like truffling, should be fun from start to finish. And while both travel guides and truffle guides aim to take the hassle out of comparing the myriad options available to you, only one guide will help you find cheap flights to lots of different places in the world. So why not bookmark the travel guide page for your home city? I have!
