It’s Friday which means the weekend is upon us…and that it’s time for a little fun! Check out these photos of some of the best museums that I’ve ever visited, and let me know…have you been to any of them? Or, which is your favourite that didn’t make the list?
1. The Louvre in Paris – it’s almost like the king of all museums in my book. I’ve spent hours in here and each time has been a totally new experience. There’s so much to see! I could spend many more hours in the Egyptian wing discovering the mummies and ancient artefacts. Of course, first-time visitors should see the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo statues, even just to say you did!

2. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City – the huge tableaus and intricate sculptures in the “Met” as it’s known by locals offer a fantastic and calm getaway from the bustling city outside. I loved the exhibit on world musical instruments the last time I was there. The different exhibitions are often very interesting and provide fresh, new things to see on every repeat visit!

3. Pergamon Museum in Berlin – this imposing museum is massive from the outside, because the amazing works on the inside are huge as well. Housing the entire Grecian Pergamon Altar as well as the famous Babylonian Ishtar Gate, the Pergamon Museum offers an escape back to ancient times and allows visitors to be dwarfed by these massive but fantastic structures. It’s incredibe to stand on the Pergamon Altar, notice the intricacies of the sculpture and imagine how it must have looked in its heyday. It’s definitely worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.

4. The National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C. – my most favourite museum in the world (so far), perhaps because I am a big American history nerd, one of the highlights of this branch of the Smithsonian is that it’s absolutely free to visit. No more traipsing around to try to get the most out of your money when really you have been tired for hours…this museum can be visited for hours or just one work at a time. Check out some of the things that I like best, including the Ruby Slippers used in the Wizard of Oz movie, the First Lady exhibit with all of their inaugural evening gowns on display or the original American flag that inspired the National Anthem.
