The Big Chill: American Airlines to charge $8 for blankets and pillows (via Tnooz)
Dennis Schaal over at Tnooz confirms the rumours that have been swirling for a while now – American Airlines will begin charging for the use of blankets and pillows for all long flights starting in May. Just the next in a series of add-on charges from airlines, this charge will in effect be a purchase and will allow passengers to keep any blankets and pillows bought on a flight. What do you think? Will you pay the surcharge to stay warm? I know that I’m often chilly on long-haul flights but know myself well enough that I won’t bring a purchased airplane blanket with me every time I travel. Maybe it’s time to invest in my own travel blanket and pillow set?
