Travelfusion's Social Media Officer, I manage all of our online marketing and presence on Twitter, Facebook, our blog and more. I love my job!
When travelling to a new place, one of my favourite things to do is check out the local cuisine. Oftentimes before I leave on a trip, I’ll check out some blogs written by locals that review the local restaurants and best places to eat. Mark has blogged about the huge variety of meat he sampled on his recent trip to Eastern Europe, and I’ve posted about different street food to be tried around the world. However, I wanted to start a new feature that will take you a bit more in-depth on the food choices and options that you can find on your next trip. Starting with London, since it’s our home base, I’ll feature some of my favourite food blogs that may help you on your next trip. We’ll also start posting about specific restaurants that we’ve tried that we think you should try as well!

An American expat explores London and has been discovering great places to eat since 2004. Krista’s posts and accompanying photographs are mouth-watering and she has so many great ideas on places to eat throughout the city. As a new Londoner, I check her blog often to find new restaurant ideas.

One of her most mouth-watering recent posts highlights Chilli Cool, a Szechwan restaurant near King’s Cross that I am now dying to try. Check out her blog for loads of good information on where to get your next good meal.

Londonchow is a blog written by CK, a Singaporean expat living in central London. His reviews are extensive, including different categories for taste, service and ambiance. He also takes care to note whether or not a service charge is included, the nearest tube stop and whether or not a reservation is necessary – all quite useful information for visitors!

A recent review of the Princi Italian bakery in Soho caught my eye and I can’t wait to sample their delicious pastries.

Also an expat living in London (I sense a theme here), Gourmet Chick is run by an Australian girl who shares her reviews of all types of London spots, along with her own recipes. The photography is brilliant and her reviews are thorough and engaging. I like that she visits restaurants anonymously and that she’s a cook herself!

Pies, Puddings and Pints: A Foodie Guide to London

One of our favourite all-around travel blogs, MatadorAbroad has a fantastic post this week giving an overview of London cuisine. From pubs to markets and restaurants to pies, author Sarah Menkedick dispels the long-held belief that British cuisine is dead. Foodie paradise Borough Market makes her list, as do the host of gastropubs that dot the city.

Take Menkedick’s advice and sample all the different styles of local cuisine that Britain has to offer on your next visit. Or, you can journey to London through these fantastic blogs whilst waiting for your trip!
