Here at Travelfusion, we’re all about lists…lists of cheapest fares, best destinations, things to do and more. Today we’re going to begin a series of posts based on lists of the Wonders of the World. There is an ongoing debate over these types of lists- who should make them, how extensive should they be and whether or not they should be revised from time to time. Let’s see if you agree with this one….
Recently, the seven Natural Wonders of the World were compiled by American news Network CNN and listed as the following:
- Grand Canyon (USA)
- Great Barrier Reef (Australia)
- Harbour of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
- Mount Everest (Nepal/China)
- Aurora (North Pole/Canada)
- Paricutin volcano (Mexico)
- Victoria Falls (Zambia/Zimbabwe)
Today we’ll be looking at the first entry on the list, the Grand Canyon, located in Arizona, USA.

This breathtaking spot, carved out by the Colorado River was one of the first official National Parks in the United States. Originally inhabited by Native Americans and considered by them to be a holy site, the Grand Canyon today attracts five million visitors every year who are drawn to the site not only by the natural beauty of the Canyon, but also by the various activities that are available in the Canyon and surrounding area. Camping, hiking, riding helicopters or just taking in the history – all is possible at the Grand Canyon.
