We’re going down to Mexico today on this Travel Monday to check out the sights and diverse activities that Cancun, Mexico has to offer.  When I think of Cancun, I immediately start daydreaming about sandy beaches, crystal clear water and relaxing with a margarita in hand.  Although that’s a great start, Cancun also has lots more to do and see – here are a few ideas!

Of course whilst in Mexico, you can’t miss the beach – sunrises and sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea are amazing and something to enjoy for hours or even days.

The proximity to the sea means that there are heaps of activities that you can enjoy on your visit to Cancun – jet skiing, snorkelling and  scuba diving tours are all easy to do and will give you a glimpse of the underwater life just below the surface.  Visit Isla Mujeres just off the coast for the most amazing snorkelling, boat rides and even the chance to swim with dolphins!  It’s just a short boat ride from Cancun.

For a more cultural experience and a view back in Mexican History, take a day trip to Chichen Itza to see the massive Mayan ruins there that date back as early as the year 600 AD.  These massive structures are still very well preserved, many have been restored and there is even an existing networks of roads that offer an amazing glimpse back to ancient Mayan culture.
